Botanically the black cumin plant belongs to the Crowfoot family (Ranunculaceae) and grows to a height of 30 to 60 cm (8” to 1 ft.). Its hard black seeds are contained in light-brown poppy-like capsules. The seeds give off an aromatic fragrance when crushed. The seeds are mentioned as early as in the Bible, as “cumin”. In the grave of the Egyptian Pharaoh Tutenkhamun vials containing black cumin oil were found. According to the “Hadith”, the Prophet Mohammed said: “Black cumin cures every illness – except death”.
The uncommonly wide-ranging action is due to a combination of 100 different active substances.
Regular use of black cumin oil during the “flu season” can strengthen the whole body by harmonising the immune system.
